CHARLES UNG Obituary
Charles S. Ung, 83, died on Sun., March 21, 2010. A longtime restaurateur, he operated The Tea Garden Restaurant in Homewood with his father & brothers. He owned and operated Charles Ung's Tea Garden in East Liberty from 1967-2000. He is survived by: his Wife, Hongying (Zhan) Ung; Daughters, Jean(Alex) Yip, Mae(Hok) Seto, Son, James(Sandra) Ung; Son-in-law, William Soo-Hoo; Seven(7) Grandchildren; Sister, Margaret Lee; Brother, Jack Ung. In addition to his parents, Sam and Lan (Lee) Ung he was preceded in death by his first Wife, Lan Fong; Daughter, Jane Soo-Hoo, & Brother, Bill Ung. Visitation will be on Fri., March 26, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the HERBERT R. KING, JR. FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park, PA. where the Funeral service will be on Sat., March 27, 2010, at 10 AM. The family suggests memorial donations may be sent to: American Heart Assoc., 15120 Collection Center Drive, Chicago, IL 60693 or Pittsburgh Chinese Church, 8711 Old Perry Hwy., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. To this day, I've never had an egg roll or duck sauce that has lived up to dear Mr. Ung's recipes. In researching to find those recipes, I came across the obituary for this kind man, who's restaurant holds many family memories of delicious chinese food as a young child in the Pittsburgh area. May your family always know that the spirit of the Tea Garden lives in the hearts of many!
