Hey, Bert...Carey has graduated from Penn State and is working for UPMC! Can you believe that? She has her first apartment, in Monaca...her boyfriend is still working in Sharon.

Bert, there isn't a week that goes by when I don't think about the difference you made in my life. I love my family dearly, but we have so little in common. I needed that slightly older mentor, someone I could talk to about the different ways I see the world, someone who could push me to be my best self. In many ways, you were that person.

I hope there's a good honky-tonk in heaven and that you're getting your fill of twangy, heartfelt music.

Miss you

Tim and Susan

Bert: It's so hard to believe that you've been gone so long. It seems like just last week Carey and I were spending the weekend with you. You were like a second father to me...someone I could always turn to for sound advice...but also someone who showed me what really mattered in life. I remember so vividly when my life was in disarray and I offered to tell you what was going on, you replied "only if it helps you." Thanks for all the books and music you inspired me to read and enjoy. Thanks for that great smile, acerbic wit, wry sense of humor and true friendship. You were truly one of a kind.

Bert: I finally got around to reading Riddley Walker. What a book! You have been such an influence in the music I enjoy and the books I read. Thanks for recommending this one to me. I just wish you were around to talk about it.

Miss you Bert. Thanks for taking time out of so many days to talk to the mail guy. I can't tell you how much it meant. Can't help thinking you've found out it's way better than turtles the whole way down. Peace
