I received a Seton La-Salle newsletter today. I don't usually read them, but I did read todays. Only to be shocked to see a donation made by Robbie in memory of Ken. The memories just flooded over me: classmates with Ken at SHC HS and Duquesne U, fellow Iron Duke and Warriors Street Hockey teammate, being in Ken's wedding...
My heartfelt condolences to all the Simcics.

Hi Everyone.
Here in "Sixburgh" with the Steelers' huge parade and celebration going on, Dad, Butch, Rob, and I are remembering Ken, the Big Steeler fan.
We attended Mass, said prayers, shared memories, and recalled special moments and events looking at pictures of Ken and other members of the family--just treasuring the special person that Ken was to us and to everyone who knew him. To Dad and I, Ken was a beautiful gift from God. What made him so special was that he lived his life as a gift to God. (We might add here that all of our children were beautiful gifts from God and we cherish you all).
Ken, thanks for the happy memories. We look forward to seeing you again one day and what a great celebration that will be. We love you and miss you.

I am a second year medical student just finishing the endocrine module at UTHSCSA. I did not have the privilege of knowing Dr. Simcic, but I have been touched by his life since his death through his notes and written lectures. My father passed away at 49 yrs this past November. It is always too soon to lose your daddy, but especially when they are so young. I pray that the Lord heals your hearts, and I thank your family for sharing your father, son, and husband to further the healthcare of others and medical students' dreams of becoming a physician.

I had the distinct privilege of knowing Ken and his family for nearly 20 years. I have never known a man of more character and integrity than Ken. It was an honor for me to have worked with him as an Army Endocrinologist for nearly 10 years in El Paso and in San Antonio. He was a valued friend as well as an exceptional physician. Our careers were so intertwined that losing him is like losing a brother. I take comfort in knowing that he is now with God.

Dear Mary and family,
I have not met you but did know Ken well. I had the pleasure of working with him at Brooke Army Medical Center. Ken was one of the reasons I chose to become an endocrinologist. I have cared for many of his Army patients once he retired and they all speak very highly of him. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, your entire family and all those that Ken has touched. He will be missed.
Sincerely,
