MATIS BERNARD G.
Age 87, of Monroeville, on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Husband of Judith; father of Nancy (John) McInerney, Joseph (Susan) Matis, Christine Matis, Patricia Gassert and Ronald Matis; grandfather of Keith McInerney, Michelle Manukas, and Christopher Manukas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Veronica Matis; his first wife, Rose; and his sister, Venet Olmstead; and brothers, Andrew and William Matis. Bernie was a retired District Manager from Goodyear Tire with 32 years service, and was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was in the European Theatre. Friends received at the GENE H. CORL INC. FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATION CENTER OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (1 block East of Mosside Blvd. -Rte. 48). Visitation Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernadette Church on Monday 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the National VFW at www.vfw.org, greatly appreciated. Corl Family Directors, 412-372-2100.

Judy, Joe & Chris; We were very sadden to hear of Bernies' passing. It wont be the same on Spartan Dr. not seeing him on the porch smoking his "stogie". He was so good to the kids. We weren't able to get over to the viewing since we were away. Our prays are with you!
