LINDA SANSOSTI Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 2 to Jan. 3, 2015.
SANSOSTI
LINDA PIZZI
Passed peacefully into the Lord's arms on her 97th birthday, Dec. 26, 2014. Current resident of Upper St. Clair, formerly of Bethel Park. Born in Youngstown, Ohio on Dec. 26, 1917. Predeceased by her husband, Alexander, two sisters and a daughter. Linda graduated from Mt. Lebanon HS in 1936. After attending secretarial school, she traveled to Italy where she was employed as an English secretary to a count in Milan. Linda resided in Venice after marrying Franco Minola in February 1940. Franco was drafted into the Italian army at the beginning of WWII and was killed several months later on the French front. Their daughter, Francesca, was not to survive beyond two years of age due to illness. The fact that Linda had dual citizenship (U.S. and Italian) and her husband had died serving in the Italian Army saved her from being sent to a concentration camp but she remained "trapped" in Italy during WWII. Linda was employed by the Allied Military Government in Lecco as an administrative assistant/ interpreter and by the British Army Welfare Service in Milan before she was able to return to the U.S. in December 1945. Linda worked as a secretary for PPG where she met architect, Alexander Sansosti. They married in June 1947 and were married for 57 years. For 17 years, Linda was a fashion model for Pittsburgh's three department stores, Millers, and Azens and then she taught personal development at Wilma Boyd Career School for three years. Mrs. Sansosti was very active in local political campaigns. She served on the Altar Guild at her beloved Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church (formerly St. David's Episcopal Church) and was a member of the Chaplain's Advisory Committee and Pastoral Care Team while residing at Friendship Village. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, in the St. Clair Room at Friendship Village, 1290 Boyce Road, Upper St. Clair. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church, 120 E. College St., Canonsburg, PA 15317. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS, 724-941-3211. Saddened to read about the passing of Linda Pizzi Sansosti.
I remember her fondly. We worked together on many fashion shows. She was warm and gentle and lovely. I did not know of her experiences in Italy during and after WW2. She was a classy and very beautiful lady and , I'm sure, she will missed by many.
