Age 88, a retired USAF Lt. Colonel, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Brighton Rehab and Wellness Center. Born in Iowa Park, TX on December 8, 1928, to the late George Sherrell and Verna Minnie (Emmons) Dudley. Bobby married his high school sweetheart, Doris Jean (Roberts) Dudley on October 3, 1951. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Shirley Zakraysek; a nephew, Carl Zakraysek, both of Phoenix, AZ; and a niece, Dana Ruder of Atlanta, GA. Bobby was a graduate of Wichita Falls, TX High School and obtained his B.S. in Aeronautics from St. Louis University and his Master's in business from University of Texas. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Korea, Greenland and Europe. Bobby taught ROTC for four years at Texas A&M University and earned a second Master's in Economics. His doctorate was interrupted by special invitation to attend the Air War College. Bobby maintained an avid interest in music, chess and photography his entire life. He moved to Pittsburgh in 1971 and taught at Robert Morris University Logistics until at 70 he retired. He enjoyed teaching and all his many students in Western PA. He was an active member of the Pittsburgh Chess Club and published their newspaper for 25 years. Everyone please meet at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies for his committal service and full military honors on Friday at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donation in his name to the Alzheimer's Association.
