Lynda S. Bates, 68, of Nampa, formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully at her home in Nampa, Idaho, on May 8, 2009.
Lynda was a magnificent sister, loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wonderful friend to many and will be significantly missed by all who were acquainted with her.
Lynda S. Bates was born Sept. 25, 1940, to George and Ida LaPrele Elg in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Lynda attended school in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1958. She married and then later divorced Robert Walton. Lynda later married Lavar Bates of Idaho Falls. Lynda was employed with Pepsi Cola of Idaho Falls for 26 years before moving to Arizona in 1983. After several years, Lynda and Lavar returned to Idaho Falls, where Lynda worked for Melaleuca in Idaho Falls until 2001, when she retired and moved to Nampa, Idaho, after the loss of her husband, Lavar.
Lynda is survived by her two children, Trina Bates of Idaho Falls and Scotty Bates of Boise; two sisters, RaeAnn (Cary) Elg-Poston of Sandpoint and Paula LaRae (Ray) Elg-Pisca of Meridian; two granddaughters, Jessica (Brennon) Mitchell-Birch and Mariah Mitchell; and her new 1-month-old great-granddaughter, Kierra Lyn Birch, all of Idaho Falls. She was preceded in death by both her parents and her husband, Lavar Bates.
Private family services are bing held with her final resting place in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls. Flowers may be sent to 565 Gladstone, Idaho Falls, ID 83401. Condolences for the family may be sent to trinaand [email protected].

Lynda, You have no idea how you have touched my life! I am so very blessed to have met you and gotten to know you and your family. You are such a great monther, and grandmother, as well as a friend, and you will be missed so much. I love you!!!
