Gerald Shaner Obituary

GERALD P. SHANER, 68, BARTO Gerald P. Shaner, 67, husband of Joan F. (Bieber) Shaner of Congo Niantic Road, Barto died Sunday, July 24, 2011 in his residence. Born in Pottstown he was the son of the late Eleanor (Heydt) Shaner and Paul M. Shaner of Gilbertsville. He worked for the former Ajax from 1963 - 1983, then Ajax became Bonne Manufacturing and he worked from 1984 - 1987. He then worked for Hoffman's Lawn Service from 1988 - 1996. He then worked for A. W. Mercer, Boyertown from which retired from 1996 - 1999. Jerry enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. He was a life member of the Sassamansville Fire Company, Gabelsville Athletic Association, Pike Township Sportsmen's Association and the Friendship Hook & Ladder Fire Company, Boyertown. Surviving with his father Paul and his wife Joan of 49 years (Married June 30, 1962) is a son, Gerald P. Shaner, Jr., and his wife Paula (Gianlombardo) Shaner of Boyertown; a sister, Phyllis, wife of Carl Zerr of Frederick; a brother, Randy, husband of Kelly Shaner of Gilbertsville; a step-granddaughter, Nikki, wife of Michael Krogmann; two step-great-grandchildren, Abby and Georgie Krogmann all of Lake Balboa, CA. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. Pastor Matthew Ollikainen, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, Niantic will officiate. Relatives and friends will be received Thursday between 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Hill Church Cemetery, Pike Township, Berks County, PA. Online condolences may be made at www.lwottfuneralhome.com.
