Stephen Horowitz

Poughkeepsie - Stephen (Steve) Horowitz, 71, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, December 30. Born in Staten Island, raised in Caldwell, NJ, Steve lived in Poughkeepsie since 1968. As a husband, father, grandfather, friend and professional social worker, Steve shared his love, wise counsel, and sense of humor with all who knew him. He was always the first to volunteer when anyone needed help or a listening ear.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Muriel, his children Shira and her husband Maurice, Jonathan, and Seth and his wife Jennifer and grandchildren Celia, Nathan and Asher.

The funeral will be Wednesday, December 31 at 2 pm at Temple beth-El, 118 South Grand Avenue, Poughkeepsie with burial following at the Beth El cemetery. Shiva will be held at the Horowitz home Wednesday night through Tuesday morning.
