When I arrived at Marist College as a stranger to all, it did not take long for me to connect with Amity and develop a friendship with her and her family. We shared common interests in reference to teaching, learning and assisting young scholars on their path to becoming teachers. I found Amity to be a person of high ideals, a giving person, a supportive individual who focused on the goodness of people whatever their station in life. While death seems final, I believe the gift of goodness that one extends in life lives after them. Amity’s goodness and joy of life were always present. Together we enjoyed conversations on a variety of subjects whether academic on otherwise. However, it’s funny that my thoughts of being with Amity have focused on a get-together with Amity, Stephen and my wife, Donna, at an old-fashioned Tea Party in a restaurant in Denver, I believe it was Denver. Yes, a Tea Party – seems perfect to remember since it was quite unique and fun – just like Amity, unique and fun.

I will miss my wonderful friend and mentor from Marist more than I can say. She impacted thousands of lives through her teaching.
