Norbert Hart Obituary
Poughkeepsie, NY - Norbert S. Hart, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. Norbert was born on May 30, 1926 in Long Beach, NY to the late Joseph and Adelaide Hart. He grew up in Brooklyn where he met his future wife, Anna Mae Ring. They married at St. Mary's Gate of Heaven in Ozone Park, Queens, NY on June 28, 1958. They settled in Hollis, Queens where they raised a family of six and lived there until 1991. Anna Mae predeceased him on October 5, 2002.
Norbert received his degree in Chemistry from City College of NY (CCNY). He retired from Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY in 1993. He was the Computer Center Director at the time of his retirement. He was a loving husband, father of 6, proud grandfather of 14 and a huge NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. He will be greatly missed.
Norbert is survived by his sons, Norbert J. and wife Maryanne of Poughkeepsie, NY, Thomas of Valhalla, NY, Brian of Queens, NY, Stephen and wife Debbie of Naples, FL, Kevin of Poughkeepsie, NY, a daughter, Maureen and husband Glenn Hartman of Scot Run, PA, and a sister, Joan Romano and husband George of Stamford, Conn. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the William G. Miller & Son FH, Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Martin de Porres Church, Poughkeepsie, NY. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. Memorial donations can be made to the American Parkinson Disease Foundation, 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305. The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow "Jasper Maker" and the family at this time. Staff -- current and past -- are recognized, remembered, and prayed for. We are mindful of the service of these good men and women that comprise the Jasper "forge" that making us what we are. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
