Dody ran the choir at St. Mary's for years. My mother and Irish tenor Moe Howard sang under her direction. They used the old St. Basil's Hymnal. the choir has never sounded better.

Mrs Simons was an amazing woman. I have countless memories of her at Meyers Corners elementary and at St Mary's. She was truly remarkable. Children loved her and her community was fortunate to count her among them. Many thanks to her family for sharing her with us all. My deepest condolences to you.

If my last message didn't convey, I want you and your family to know how much you brought to me in my life. Mrs. Simon, you brought my voice out and assisted me throughout my elementary years. U let me sing, u encouraged me to sing, you gave me my voice. I am forever grateful for your time and energy with me. Now, after all these years, I want to rise and sing again...because of you. I loved you from the day I met you, and am so deeply saddened to hear of your passing. But in the end, you gave me hope to bring my voice out, let me sing, and gave me happiness. I will never forget you...I dreamt of you a couple of nights ago. It's fate, Mrs. Simon, that you are still in my heart. When I see you in eternity, let's play the piano and sing loud again.
With all my heart and soul, I will never forget the gift you allowed me to open up. I will let that continue, any way possible. You are so cherished...I only wish we had more time together now, as we both take the next journey in life.
Forever grateful, with love and the highest respect, most affectuantly, with respect,

What a full life Mrs. Simons led! I remember her fondly from Elementary School (Myers Cors.) where she made music fun AND had a firm hand when teaching students (and some adults) about respect and etiquette at performances and life in general!
I recall back in the early 1980's where I was involved in a choir at St Columba/St. Denis Parish. We were getting ready for a rehearsal when we entered the choir loft, Mrs Simons was there from a prior rehearsal She stayed through our rehearsal and even chimed in with some suggestions, etc.
After the rehearsal, I walked up to her and said. "So, how is Mrs. G Clef" these days?!" She got such a bright expression on her face, lit up like a Christmas Tree and said, "You REMEMBER HER!"
It was a privilege to be a student hers. She will be missed. My deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to your family- and remember her in smiles and laughter, and in music for she made this world a wonderful place for all of us!!
Thank You Mrs. Simons for your gift, and may God's perpetual light shine on you, and may you rest in his peace.

Mrs. Simons was such an inspiration to so many, she taught me music throughout my years at Myers. She was always so happy and eager to teach us new things. I will forever be grateful that she was my teacher. Years passed and we hadn't seen each other, and I bumped into her while shopping, I of course had to say hello, she actually remembered my name and which school she taught me. She was amazing. My heart breaks for her family. Please know you are all in my thoughts during this difficult time.

Mrs Simons was THE music teacher at Myers Corners Elementary school. She made music class fun. I have so many wonderful school memories, thanks to her, from class & chorus concerts. I also remember her from St Mary's church, where she led the choir at many masses. My deepest condolences to her family. There is not a doubt in my mind that the heavens are singing a little louder & that she is leading the angels in song. Rest in peace Mrs Simons, thank you for the memories.

What a wonderful lady! She was my music teacher at Myers. My sister's and I loved her. Her Christmas concerts were always the best. We sang at the Dutchess Mall, the tree lighting in the park on All Angels and Myers, at school, and believe it or not, Santa would come! Mrs. Simons was a spunky lady. She made music classes fun at Myers Corners Elementary School! Rest in Peace...

Mrs. Simon was my elementary school music teacher. I remember her so clearly in my brain as warm and loving and inspirational.
I am now a retired music teacher from the public school system. Thinking back, I am sure she had an extraordinary influence in my love of music.

We did many weddings and funerals together, She playing the organ and I singing. At most of the weddings she would almost always say he or she was a student of mine a few years ago. I will miss this wonderful LADY but Jesus has a great organ player to welcome ..
