Gordon Shaver Obituary
Belmont, NC: Gordon "Lou" Shaver Sr., 67, of Belmont, NC, passed away March 14, 2011 at The Robin Johnson House, Dallas, NC. He was born January 30, 1944 in Endicott, NY, second son of the late Kenneth and Beatrice Saddlemire Shaver. Mr. Shaver was retired from IBM in 1999. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, Gastonia, NC, officiated by Pastor Joe Edwards and Pastor Tracy Mull. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. He is survived by his wife, Donna Hunsinger Shaver; son, Lou Shaver Jr. of Gaffney, SC; daughters, Ann Rice of Gastonia, Renee Shelton of Sumter, SC; grandchildren, Heather Rice Lloyd, Christopher Shaver, Ashley Shaver, Elizabeth Rice, Megan Herndon, Alyson Shelton; brothers, Roland and Bernard Shaver; sisters, Donna Manzer, Shirley Shook, Bessie Bogart of NY, Judy Tokar of NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Kenneth Shaver Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Robin Johnson House, 5005 Shepherds Way Dr., Dallas, NC 28034. www.gastonhospice.org. Heart broken to hear this news of a old neighborhood friend has passed away. To his family so sorry for your loss. I know he'll be missed, but take comfort that he's in a better place today. I pray for comfort in your time of sorrow. I lost my only sister Kay Vail in Aug. 2008. She's in heaven and I'm sure she welcomed one of her Twin Orchard friends into heaven.
