Pint the Sky Tonight

PAINT THE SKY TONIGHT

She met Jesus on the sunrise,
Which was fitting for her life,
They planned today together,
What to do to share more light.

Her eyes were bight as diamonds,
And her smile was seen by all.
If you were down you caught her laughter,
And she'd never let you fall.

She loved the little children,
And the crazy and the few,
Which were different in their own way,
She even loved them too..

She could turn the darkness into light,
Brighten up the cloudy days,
With a look, a smile, some silly song,
Or hair sprayed with purple haze.

We wonder why she left us,
Before we said good bye.
But we know she is with Jesus now.
So we'll meet them in the sky.

Her face will still be glowing,
Her eyes will still be bright,
We'll understand it all one day
Like she understands tonight.

She'll see Jesus in the sunset,
Behind the purple hues,
But the colors of His heaven,
Are not for us to choose.

She'll share the beauty of this day,
Paint the skies for us with love.
With the God of all creation,
Smiling on us from above.

Right now Sarah is more fully alive then she ever was while here on earth, which is really saying something, since Sarah lived life, lived every moment, every minute to the fullest degree. In affirmation of the truth that she is living, my writing will reflect this as I write in the present tense.
Sarah's eyes are always the feature that stand out most - bright and joyful, dancing with life and a sparkle of the unconventional ;) Her enthusiasm, out-going personality and ever-evolving ideas are certainly keeping the heavenly population on its toes even as you read this now. Sarah is a dreamer...always hoping and believing this or that thing can be pursued and accomplished, ever reaching beyond limits and boundaries to explore past and beyond. Is it any wonder she loved horses so much? Animals whose natural instinct mirror the longing of her soul? I imagine Sarah now front-and-center, perhaps even hand-in-hand with her cousin Emilee, fully engaged in the heavenly action of creating and designing, contributing unimagineable beauty and delight, and ensuring there is an element of surprise and the unexpected - entirely appropriate for the mysteries of heaven - certain to lift our hearts in wonder when we arrive to take it all in. Sarah's evident and genuine love for her Lord continues to grow as she experiences Him now face-to-face. And I picture them walking, hands held and swinging, Jesus doubled over laughing at the latest "spontaneous-Sarah-words" expressed, as He utterly delights in her, His precious dearly loved child.
Sarah, we celebrate you and all God has made you to be! You are a gift to our lives, and we carry you in our hearts always. Just thinking of you I can't help but smile :) Steve, Beth and Laura, we continue to wrap you in our love and prayers. God WILL hold you together. He will not waste your pain. He counts your every tear. He is the Healer of the broken-hearted. He will, He will carry you through. Sarah's life continues to be lived. And we walk beside you now in your journey here on earth until you are reunited with Sarah once again.
With Much Love & Affection,

Kris Palmer

Dear Beth & Family: Our deepest sympathies to you. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I wish I had known Sarah, but I'm sure that like her mother, she touched many lives. Hugs to you and much love, Kris

Precious Sarah, our first born grandchild, is now with God and the others that went before. We will miss her natural talents that will not have the opportunity to blossom. The last time we were with Sarah was Laura's graduation party. It was plain to see that she was ready to attack the world with her usual enthusiasm. We will always love and miss "Dear Sarah". Sarah was my counselor for many years at the ranch. She is the reason I am who I am today. Sarah is the one who guided me my first game of paintball, who encouraged me to be more spontaneous and try things I would never have thought of doing, and she was the person who was with me when I accepted Jesus into my life as my Lord and savior for the first time. Thinking of her now of course makes me sad but more than that it makes me smile and laugh and think of all the people she impacted and how many amazing memories Ive had with her. Not a day goes by when I don't think of the best counselor I've ever had and the most real and inspiring person I will ever meet. I love and miss you Sarah and I know you are watching over us.

We will always remember Sarah with love and the wonderful times we had with her during family gatherings. Her wonderful ability to put people at ease, tell funny stories, and make everyone laugh were just some of her special gifts. Sarah's love for the Lord and others was so transparent in everything she said and did. We are sure she is having a ball in heaven! We look forward to seeing her again in our heavenly home.

Sarah, Vivacious is the word that will always describe who you are to me. You lived your life to the full on earth. You cherished each moment. I remember sitting with you and your family on the eve of going to Liberty. You were excited about your transition to college and all the promise of your future in Lynchburg. But, you were also fully involved in what was unfolding in your life right then which was summer camp. I can only imagine that today you are still living life to the full in the presence of your Lord. I can see your eyes brighten and flash with excitement as you worship the One who gave you such an abundant and satisfying life. The last time our eyes met you were on your way home after our family breakfast at Friendlys. You smiled and waved. I smiled back. I know now that we weren't saying goodbye but simply "see you later." One day we will be together again and when we are I can't wait to see and hear you living life to the full eternally.

How does one begin to describe the feeling of loss for someone so beautiful inside and outside;a heart as big as her zest for life and with a fun-loving sense of humor that always kept everyone on their toes? The special way that you touched so many lives in your brief time on this Earth was exhibited through your deep faith and in carrying out His work - always so selfless, caring and giving toward others. You were certainly OUR (super) hero and will continue to be missed each and every day. Love and peace always,

September 30, 2013

Sarah, though I never met you it seems you were an amazing young lady. In your short time here you were able to accomplish so much. We will keep your family in our prayers and are so excited to know that your are with God in heaven. I'm am sure your family will miss you and looks forward to reuniting with you. God Bless

We miss our sweet, funny, spontaneous, beautiful, joyful, creative, entertaining, tuba-playing, crew-rowing, deep-thinking, superhero-admiring, paint-ball-playing, God-loving, first-born niece more than words can express! We are thankful that God blessed us with you for 23 years, and we so enjoyed being your aunt and uncle. There is an emptiness and an ache in our hearts that will never go away, and even though we know you are rejoicing in Heaven and we will see you again one day, losing you has changed our lives here on earth forever. When you left us, you took with you some of the light and color, and our lives will never be the same.

We will always love and miss you, Sarah!

I had a class with Sarah in 2011, and she was one of the most creative, outgoing, and sweet people I've ever met. She was always offering to help others with their work - such a giving, selfless person. She really made a difference in the lives of others.

I was privileged to have Sarah for two classes at LU. Additionally, my step-son was a teammate of hers on the Crew. News of her passing deeply saddened me though, I am confident she is now with her Savior. She had a unique and wonderful perspective on life. I will miss her joy and spirit.

What stands out to me about Sarah is the way that she was always positive, always joyful, always full of God's love for others.
As I pray for the family, I can't help but think of God smiling at her arrival, greeting her with a great hug and the words we all long so desperately to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant!"

August 26, 2013

Dear Beth, Steve and Laura,

We are so, sad to hear about Sarah's death. We've been mourning for you from our new home here in Austin, TX.

You might not realize what a deep impact your daughter (sister) had on our daughter Natalie. The first year we took her to camp we were all teary and Natalie was having a hard time with us leaving. Sarah greeted her so kindly and I could tell she was just the right person to welcome Natalie.

Natalie's life was changed that week as she discovered a passion for camp and ministry. She now serves Austin's at-risk kids at fall, summer and spring camps as well as weekly gatherings. She took what Sarah modeled so beautifully for her and puts it into practice with all her might. We are forever grateful for your daughter and love that God allowed that one week of camp so many years ago to ripple out in the lives of so many. We will remember your family to the Father often and keep Sarah's life and passion alive.

With sadness and hope,

Brian, Tamara & Natalie Murphy

Sarah was such an awesome friend to have...when Halloween came around and I needed some awesome face painting skills Sarah was immediately recommended to me. We had a blast as she painted my face like the Cheshire Cat. Not only was she a lovely friend but an dedicated team mate. I will miss her spunk and vivacious love of life. God Bless.

"Did you hear the heartbeat yet?", etc. As my son Paul Donato Jr is 6 months older than Sarah was, My heart was so very heavy for you. And also, as you said, I am sure she is lighting up Heaven with her stories, testimonies, and love. She was a BEAUTIFUL person both inside and out. Prayers and hugs in my heart for all of you. Get in touch with me if there is ANY WAY I can help.

I am deeply sorry for your loss! Even though I am an online student, I am sure that I would have definitely become friends with Sarah if I was a resident student. She left amazing footprints in other people's lives. She must have been a good hearted, kind, selfless person. That is so hard to find these days! She must have been a wonderful angel of God here on Earth. The only difference is that now she shall be in Heaven. She never leaves your side for her spirit walks with you wherever you go. I trust in God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Jesus that all of them are your strength, your courage, your rock, your shoulder to cry on and, most of all your light in this moment of darkness. Thank you for giving life to such a beautiful person. God bless!Liz.

I did not personally know Sarah. Just reading the posts and seeing her picture. I am sure that if she and I were to cross paths I would have loved her. She seems like a bright and energetic young lady. While knowning that my words are not enough comfort for you, I know that you will find your comfort in the Lord. God takes the angels first. Sarah must have truly been an Angel. I pray that your family stays strong in your time of grief. God Bless you all!

Dear McKeowen Family,
I'm really saddened to hear of Sarah's passing this past week. Sarah was a fellow Graphic Design student and friend at Liberty during my last two years of studies. Dear McKeown Family I know of Sarah through Bob and Sandi Hardin. Two of our children attend Liberty and Sandi always spoke of Sarah with great affection as we shared this connection. We attended church with Bob and Sandi before moving to VA. We learned of Sarah's passing from Hilltown Baptist prayer chain and were so saddened by the news. Sarah obviously touched many lives. Our prayer is that the God of all comfort will surround you with HIS comfort and give you peace. The Young Family

Please draw the souls of her family members and community members close to Your Son Jesus for comfort and strength as they celebrate her journey home to You. Anoint their souls with salvation and grace as they adjust to to Sarah's absence in their earthly sojourns. Until we all rejoice in Your Presence I pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

When I heard the news that Sarah had passed away I instantly recalled the time I talked with her at UEHS. I came back home for a visit to her Graphic Design class to talk about my job as a designer to some aspiring students. Most of the students never care that I come in to talk, but Sarah was one of those students whose eyes lit up when I was talking. I could tell that she was genuinely inspired and passionate about what she was doing, when she came up to me when the class ended and thanked me for spending my time with them. Other than that I didn't know Sarah personally, but I could tell that she had a bright future. My condolences to the McKeown family for your loss.

You definitely were a bright light to me!
2 Corinthians 5:6-8 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

I had the great pleasure of having Sarah in a few of my graphic design classes at Liberty University. She was refreshingly offbeat and always 100% herself. She had a confidence and comfortability about herself that most people only dream of having. Everything she did had her glow about it. Saddened to hear of her passing. That glow will certainly be missed.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Sarah lived in the dorm room across from mine freshman year. One night,Sarah decided she wanted to do mine and another girls make-up to look like we had been in a fight. She was always so creative and energetic. She is at home at peace with our Heavenly Father now. Praying for you all to find comfort throughout this painful time.

I met Sarah in Marching Band and she helped to make my freshman year a few years back, memorable. Wasn't super close, but the few times we talked I could tell how excited about life she was.

Beth, Steve & Laura, Courtney spoke highly of your precious daughter Sarah. Bllly Joel was oh so right when he sang "Only the Good Die young." From reading all of the posts about Sarah it is abundantly clear that she made a huge impact on a significant number of people in her very short time here. She will be there with her welcome welcome smile to greet her many friends when she welcomes them home in heaven.

I didn't know Sarah extremely well, but I did become friends with her at Liberty University. I met her through the Comic Book Club, and from everything I could tell, she was a talented artist and a fun person to be around. At one point we even talked about collaborating on a comic book project together. I hadn't seen her in a while, but I was still sad to hear of her passing. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
