Myrtle Elizabeth Heckman Shamp

North Fort Myers, FL: 91, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2011, with her loving husband of 71 years, Walter Shamp, by her side. Myrtle is also survived by her sister, Alvesta Gouger, E. Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Jr. and Janice Shamp, The Villages, Florida, James and Raelene Shamp, Johnson City, New York, one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Bernd Krause, Johnson City, New York, seven grandchildren, Kelly (Eleazar) Flores, David (Sherry) Shamp, Lee (Angel) Shamp, Darren (Vanessa) Shamp, Alex (Aylin) Shamp, Erich (Teagen) Krause and Alyssa Krause, and eight great grandchildren, Marcos Flores, Cody Shamp, Kaelyn Shamp, Jesse Shamp, Logan Shamp, Rasih Shamp, Melia Shamp, and Joyanna Krause. Myrtle was predeceased by her parents, Addie and Jasper Heckman, two sisters, Beulah Mott and Nina Lambert, and four brothers, Paul, Claire, Gerald, John Heckman, all of E. Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Myrtle graduated from East Stroudsburg High School in 1938. She was employed by IBM Corporation and Endicott Johnson Corporation in Endicott, New York. Myrtle was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2332 and AMVETS Post 50 Auxiliary, and served as leader in the Girl Scouts of America. She was an avid bowler and pinochle player. Myrtle was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at Barber Memorial Home, 428 Main Street, Johnson City, New York on Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 6 PM to 8 PM, and Friday, March 18, from 11:00 AM to Noon. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Brown Naik of Union Center United Methodist Church, will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday. Myrtle will be laid to rest at Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal, New York.

Mary Lou and Family,
My heart breaks for you, your Mom was a wonderful loving woman, and will be greatly missed.
I will never forget sitting at your kitchen table making my silk wedding bouquets with her. It was a magical afternoon.
