Bakanowski, Helen R. (Swider)

Endicott: Helen R. (Swider) Bakanowski, 94 of Endicott, formerly of Binghamton, died Friday, April 29, 2011 at Ideal Senior Living Center, Endicott, with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her parents: Zofia & Wojciech Swider; a brother, Frank (Elizabeth) Nezelek; three sisters, Bernice Swider, Stella (Stanley) Maston, and Cecelia (Herbert) Tillapaugh. She is survived by two sisters, Wanda Debnar, Endicott, and Frances Hlebica, Johnson City; Godchildren, Mary Tillapaugh Zenglein, Susan Orzel-Biggs, and Ling Tillapaugh; "Grandchildren", Kim Zenglain Hohl, Jessie and Max Zenglein; "Great-Grandchildren", Fynn and Liv Zenglein-Hohl; also many very special nieces and nephews and their families. Helen was a long time member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, until it closed and is a current member of St. Casimir's Catholic Church, Endicott. She was a retired Endicott Johnson Corp. employee with 43 years of service. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Ideal Senior Living, Iris Court and Lily Court, and Dr. Shaun Berkowitz for their compassionate care. A memorial mass will be celebrated by Fr. Matthew Wieczorek at 10:00am at St. Casimir's Catholic Church Endicott, on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's name to a charity of your choice.
