Dear Eileen, Hadassah, and all the others of the family I did not have the pleasure to meet, please accept my profound condolences for the enormous loss. It is a big loss also for all people like me, who had the fortune to cross his life only for a while, and to enjoy his extreme mind and human kindness, his passion for art, life, movies, and science. Our numerous memories of him will keep him "alive" still for long time..

Dear Eileen,
I was very fortunate to have had off & on interactions with Tom H over many years dating back to the 70's when I was a graduate student @ UCD. I was glad to meet with the two of you a few years back in Binghamton.

I knew Prof. Head's name well before I came to Binghamton. He was the founder of DNA computing, and collaborated with one of my thesis committee members (Prof. Hagiya at U. Tokyo). It was my true honor meeting Prof. Head, having him participate in our CoCo seminars and discussing various ideas at the intersection of biology and computing. He has influenced the lives of so many. My sincerest condolences.

To my mentor and friend,
Thanks for teaching me that it is just as important to ask the right questions as it is to find the answers. I shall dearly miss your friendship, mentorship, and passion for truth. Thanks and Godspeed!

Thinking of your family as you go thru this loss of your father. What a kind soul he was. I had no idea he was sick.......but He may be gone but not forgotten and lives in our hearts forever. Thinking of your family today as I heard the news of his passing.

I remember as we lay on our backs alone in a dark room at Tom and Eileens home in Fairbanks listening to otherworldly music in a place beyond words.
Just this past summer, I asked Tom about why he stopped teaching math and he said that he could no longer find the words. So I asked could he still think Mathematics and he said yes.
He was a man who tapped into the world beyond words.
Rest In Peace, Tom
