Michael used to appear before me during my tenure as Colesville Town Justice from 1987 through 1998 - of all of the State Police officers to appear before me, he was the most prepared, the most diligent, and the most considerate of motorists and defendants. Even-tempered, and gracious, even under cross-examination by defense counsel, I was always impressed by him. The family has my deepest sympathies - and the NY State Police have lost a great officer.

To Mike's family - I first met Mike when he was a Sgt in SP Owego and I immediately liked the man which in and of itself says a lot about Mike since it took a lot for me to like somebody. After he became a fixture at SP Sidney, I sought him out during my rare visits there. We shared the same interest in older sci-fi movies and I envied his autographed Kevin McCarthy photo from the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I retired back in May of 2009 and was fortunate enough to say good-bye to Mike before I left and moved to Florida. I regret not being able to attend his funeral. Please accept my sincere condolences.

To the Lynch Family:
I worked very closely with Mike on the SERVE Program developed at the DCMO BOCES and did several presentations with him over the years. Dear Terri and family,

You have our prayers, constant thoughts and deepest sympathy. We can't think of Mike without recalling his zany and over-the-top comedic antics. We guess that's why he and our son, Kevin, were so close because Kevin has that same quirky sense of humor. That, plus the fact they were first cousins and the same age. Because of that lovable trait, Mike was always fun to be around. It is tragic whenever someone is struck down at such a young age and, as with MIke, in otherwise great physical condition. Michael's untimely death is doubly tragic because of his uncanny ability to make everyone laugh. We all need that type of companion now. --Jean and Joe Pierson
