John Sedlock Obituary
John T. Sedlock, 82 of Vestal passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Josephine Sedlock. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anna M. (Solan) Sedlock; his children, Stephen M. & Lori Sedlock, Lianne & Joseph Seman, Thomas J. Sedlock & Pamela Foley, Mark D. Sedlock & Abigail Stevens; nine grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Jack, Tommi Ann, Annalee, Max, John Thomas, Joseph and Grace; and one great-grandchild, Connor. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Daryl Harris and their family, Chris, Carin and Jamie, along with many friends, including Kathy Bolton. John was born in Endicott, NY on July 21, 1933. He graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1951 and joined the United States Army. He served in the 43rd Infantry Division as a Rifleman and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Science eventually establishing Sedlock Funeral Home, Inc. where he has been serving the community for over 50 years. His memberships include St. Cyril and Methodius Church, American Legion Post 1254, NYS and Broome County Funeral Directors Association, The Binghamton Lions Club and The First Ward Action Council. The family would like to thank Dr. Ramanujan and his staff at Binghamton General Hospital for their compassionate care. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Cyril & Methodius Church on Wednesday at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Sedlock Funeral Home Inc., 161 Clinton Street on Tuesday from 4-7 pm.

He was a dear friend to anyone he met, and a great father figure to the many musician's who passed through his home. The kindness and respect he bestowed on other's no matter who you were, was something I was blessed to actually see through the moments and will carry on through me and your grandchildren who adored you. This is a message sent to us by a good friend Don Harding, who lived in our neighborhood in Vestal, NY~
Guys I just wanted to say how incredibly sorry and saddened I am to hear and read of your fathers passing. I know how very hard it is to lose a parent as this past week marked the 27th anniversary of my own fathers sudden passing. I am forever grateful for the amount of respect and compassion he showed my family last July when we lost my uncle Art. I will always remember the time he took on the night of Art's funeral to sit in the waiting area by the front door of the funeral home to talk with my mother. the two of them talked for over a half hour together on the couch about life in general and reminisced about the old neighborhood we all grew up in. I know this comforted my mother more than anyone will ever know and brought her a great deal of peace for what was a very tough evening. After the services I sought out your father and let him know how much I appreciated the compassion he showed my family and told him what a great guy he was. I am so glad I did this. I hope the two of you can find some comfort in the coming days, weeks and months that lie ahead knowing how many lives your father touched while he was on this Earth. I know his life, his legend and legacy will go on forever as you will all share many stories of him and remember the great times he gave you and that you had with him.
