of Binghamton
Devin N. Spears, 14, of Binghamton, went to be with her Savior, Saturday, July 20, 2002. She was predeceased by her father, Ronald Spears, Sr. in April 2000; and an aunt, Deborah Coubarous. She is survived by her sister, Tammie Parker, Baltimore, Md.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Frederick (Rickie) and Justina Simmons, Binghamton, and Ronald Spears, Jr., Fla.; her grandparents, Al and Mamie Lloyd, Rochester, Esther and Robert Johnson, Ithaca, and Susan Coubarous, New Orleans, La.; Godparents, Gladys Ransburg, and Ronnie and Acquanetta Young; also several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Devin was an active member of the New Life Ministries, Endicott and a former member of the Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Binghamton. She was an honor student at Binghamton High School, where she would have been a sophmore in the fall, a member of the JV Soccer Team, the All City Choir, the Drama Club, high school jazz and concert bands where she played the flute, a member of the Sister Cities International Club, the Endicott Performing Arts Center where she landed the role of Dorothy in the musical the Wiz, and other productions. Memorial services will be held Friday, 11 a.m. from New Life Ministries, 201 Hill Ave., Endicott with the Reverends Rob Campbell, Executive Director of her church and Dr. Philip K. James, former Pastor of Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, 9:30 a.m. at Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main St., Endicott, Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to New Life Ministries.
