Edward Helfrick Obituary

Edward Joseph Helfrick, 80 of Johnson City, went to be with the Lord Monday evening, January 3, 2011 at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret V. Helfrick and a son, Fred Leo Helfrick. He is survived by his beloved soul mate, Mary E. Lidaka, Johnson City; a grandson, Nicholas H. Helfrick, Athens, GA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Jeannie Helfrick, Kingsport, TN, Raymond and Mary Helfrick, Venice, FL; also several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Johnson City. He was a retired vice president with Marine Midland Bank in Binghamton with 34 years of service. He had served in the US Air Force. He was an avid member of the Triple Cities Metal Detecting Club. Ed enjoyed 11 years of California living before returning to Johnson City in August of 2009. Funeral services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home Inc., 150 Main St., Johnson City, Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, where a funeral mass will be offered. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Fred L. Helfrick Scholarship Fund, BCC Foundation, PO Box 1017 Binghamton NY, 13902 in Edward Joseph Helfrick's memory.

Dear Mary, sorry for your loss. He was a great man and a wonderful Uncle. I remember going to his house in the summer and having so much fun with everyone, also he would take me to the bank were he work. Uncle Ed enjoy life and shared it with ours.He love taking pictures and movies of us all the time. I have great remembers of him and I will cherish them forever. Thank you Mary for taking very good care of Uncle Ed , you are a angel. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you.
