Jim Carrigg was a gentlemen and good corporate leader of NYSEG. He led the corporation though challenging times. But most of all I admire him for his love of family, love of God and love for his wife.

I began working at NYSEG 1969 in the Auburn District and met Mr. Carrigg often during my 38 years as an Operating Reports Clerk. He was always a gentleman, kind and courteous and always remembered everyone's first name. I met him several times at conferences and recognition dinners and he always had that beautiful smile ready to share. He was definitely the glue that kept NYSEG together...he was extremely missed when he left...may he rest in peace and know that he left his footprint on the hearts of all his employees,,,

To the James A. Carrigg family;
Well a lot of water has gone down the Susquehanna River since Jim and I use to bounce the basketball off the floor of the old St. John's Gym on Vestal Ave in Binghamton. When Jim could not play any more basketball at North High School do to his graduation I got him to come and play basketball with our St. John's CYO team. I do not know if he wanted play basketball or be near Loretta who was one of our Cheerleaders way back then. I believe the latter as it turn out. Jim was a great guy on the court and off the court. I was proud to know Jim and all of his accomplishment he achieved in our community.
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at you back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall soft upon your fields.
and til we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Dear Carrigg Family,
Jim was one of the finest men I have every had the pleasure to meet. He was a very caring man; and he showed that care in his daily life, using it to guide his every decision. Jim was one of the few men in management at MYSEG who made it his business to know every person who worked in his building and call them by name. Those of us who knew him and Loretta were Blessed. May God be with you in your time of need.

To the Carrigg Family,
I was very sorry to read of Jim's passing. As a fellow South-Sider, I was proud to see him rise through the ranks as he worked and earned his way to the top. When I talked to him at the hospital in Ithaca after his "quiet" heart attack at NYSEG in Freeville, he was anxious to get going again. He was a good example to all. I will remember him at Mass this week.

John: Your Father was an absolute delight to know. I first met him when I worked for Senator Anderson. Then along side him on the Boards of UHS and BCC. He was one of the most pleasant gentlemen I have ever had the opportunity to work beside. When no one else could stop a disgruntled roundtable of "planners" from worrying or "bullying,your Daddy could turn the meeting around with a discreet cough or two, and a twinkle in his eyes. Remember to keep him in your heart and he will be with you always!

Anyone fortunate to count Jim Carrigg among their friends was indeed lucky. His smile was infectious and he always made me feel good just to be in his presence. His accomplishments in business and community service are truly amazing. This is a huge loss for his family, friends, and our community, but thank God he passed our way. We are all richer for knowing him and his lovely wife Loretta. I feel like I have one more angel watching over me.
