James VanAuken Obituary

Van Auken, James Edward

James E. Van Auken 81, formerly of Endicott, died at Southside Hospital, Bay Shore, Long Island on Sat., March 12, 2016. He is predeceased by his parents, Hal and Regina Van Auken; 2 sisters, Marion Stone and Alice Ellis; 4 brothers, Robert, Donald, Wayne and Harold. He is survived by 3 sisters & brothers-in-law, Winifred (Gerald) Agan, Elmira, Marcella (Daniel) View, Binghamton, Rita (Cosimo) DelSanto, Endicott; sister-in-law, Marianne Van Auken, Endicott; many nieces & nephews; special friend Joan Klein, Sayville, NY. He retired from Federal Aviation Administration in 1979 after 27 years of service as an air traffic controller at Idlewild/JFK (Kennedy) International Airport and Long Island MacArthur Airport, Ronkonkoma, NY. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School & received a B.S. degree from Dowling College. A Memorial service will be held on Sat., April 9, 1:00 p.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, NY. Father John Kurgan of Our Lady of Sorrows Church will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home on Saturday, 12-1pm.
