Lawrence J. (Larry) Patch
of Binghamton
Lawrence J. (Larry) Patch, 85, went peacefully to Heaven to be with his Lord, on October 1st, 2005. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Philomena (Valenti) Patch; and sisters and brother-in-law, Jilda and Ben Putano, and Jackie Valenti. He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 57 years, Josephine (Borsellino) Patch; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Vicki Patch, Conklin, N.Y; daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Paul Gelnett, Hillcrest, N.Y. He is also survived by four grandchildren of whom he was so proud, Alexia (Patch) and Jason Miller, Kyle Krause, Jordan Patch, and Joel Patch; and one special ray of sunshine, great-granddaughter, Reagan Alison Miller. He is also survived by a special sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Dom Monoco, Binghamton; and brother, Eugene Valenti, Binghamton; and was blessed with many special and caring nieces and nephews, cousins and close extended family. Larry enjoyed many years of retirement from the US Postal Service doing the hobbies he loved, especially rooting for his beloved Yankees, but mostly was known as a friend to many. He was a veteran having served in WWII in the 15th and 17th Mechanized Calvary Divisions, and was a life member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 1645, Fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 206, Elks #852, VFW #478.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 4, 2005, at 8:45 a.m. at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, N.Y., followed at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco & Son Funeral Home on Monday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. The Women's Abruzzese Club will meet at the funeral home, Monday at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions in Larry's memory can be made to St. Mary of the Assumption refurbishment fund at 37 Fayette Street, Binghamton, 13901.
