Beatrice Minkin

Bea died as she had lived - beautifully. Born May 31, 1922, she died peacefully on October 13, 2010, surrounded by family. Loving wife of the late Irving Minkin. Cherished mother of Steven (Rita) Minkin of Healdsburg, Emily (Joe) Hamp of Petaluma, and James (Rebecca) Minkin of Cobb Mtn., CA. Beloved grandmother of Ariel Rosenthal, Avila Reese, Daniel Minkin, Lily Minkin, and Elizabeth Hamp. Great-grandmother of seven. Dear sister of her surviving siblings, Phil Blackman, Sylvia Foster, Jack Blackman, and Sally Goldbaum. The daughter of immigrants, Bea and her six siblings survived and thrived. When already the mother of three, Bea put herself through college at night, one course at a time, until she had her B.A. and a Teaching Credential. She was an amazing and loving teacher to the many children who were lucky enough to have her. Later on, she went on to get her Master's Degree, and became a Reading Specialist, finishing out her long career in that capacity. Bea made friends wherever she went, bringing a ray of "sunshine" to any room. A Memorial Celebration for Bea will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at The Springfield Place, 101 Ely Road So., Petaluma. All who knew her are welcome.
