It's hard to write about someone you never met but sometimes connections are too obvious to ignore. A teacher, a Vermonter, the father-in-law of a dear friend...I'm sorry I didn't know him. My thoughts are with the Steady family.

I was a student of Mr. Steady at Cook JHS in the early '60s. Without a doubt, he was one of the best teachers I ever had, and I have always thought about and remembered him. I saw him many years ago and was amazed that he still remembered me. I will always remember his knowledge and his wit. I am honored to have been one of his students. My sincere sympathies to all of you.

"Dad" was a wonderful father-in-law to me. He kindly and lovingly accepted me into the family. We sat together and watched World Series baseball one fall and he made me delicious homemade bean soup. He raised the most wonderful man I have ever encountered, Dr. Stephen Steady, a man and physician who is appreciated and admired by many, most especially his patients. Another fond memory of "Dad" was seeing his enjoyment while sitting on the deck, overlooking the beautiful lake, at my parent's lake house. His smile and serenity while enjoying the view will be memories I keep. Much love to "Dad", who showed me so much love during our time together.

To Frank’s children and grandchildren:

I’m sorry to hear of your loss; your dad and granddad was a good person and our world is always the less for losing good people.

I haven’t had much contact with my uncle Frank since he and Virginia left Omaha in my youth. My memories of Frank are from the time that he, Virginia and just two children, Stephen and Frank, lived in the house behind my grandparents on 11th Street. I remember Frank as a handsome Frenchman - I was most intrigued to have a Frenchman in the family - who sported a ready smile and was always good and patient with us kids in his house and yard.

Please accept my condolences to you all.

Sincerely,

Kay & Tony Russo

Frank's conversations were interesting, often amusing, and his contributions to the community were many. The Howard Street neighborhood was real Petaluma. Knowing him was a pleasure.
