Melvin Rohde Obituary

ROHDE,Melvin Native Petaluman, Melvin Rohde passed away at his home in Petaluma on January 9, 2011. Devoted husband for 67 years to Verlie Rohde of Petaluma. Loving father of Doug Rohde of Danville, CA and Sandra Kelly of Hillsborough, CA. Beloved father-in-law of Jan Rohde and Dennis Kelly. Loving grandfather of Darren (Erin) Rohde, Jeffrey Rohde, Lauren Rohde, and Michelle Kelly; and great-grandfather of Sean and Ethan Rohde. Dear brother of Catherine MacKenzie of Petaluma. Survived by two nephews. Melvin graduated from Petaluma High School in 1940. He was active in the FFA and was an officer in the state level of FFA during his high school years. He joined the US Air Force during World War II. After being discharged he came back to Petaluma and became a poultry rancher until he retired in 1990. A member of BPOE, Native Sons, Sirs #58, and American Legion Post #28. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and coaching Little League teams. A 'special thank you' is given to Mila and Patrick; his wonderful caregivers. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952. Inurnment: Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma.

Our hearts go out to you and you family, Melvin was a good friend,and and a good Boss to my husband. My husnamd Bill can allways count on Melvin as a very good friend. and a good listner.when ever Bill wants to talk, Melvin was all ears.
