Helen Ririe Obituary

Passed away from cancer, three days after her 82nd birthday. Her husband and several of her children were with her when she left. She is survived by her six children: Richard Scott, (Sandy); Ronald Brent, (Beverly); Robert Bruce; Randy Mark, (Krissy); Carolyn Jeanette Peterson, (Robert); Rodney Emerson; her husband Morgan Jensen Ririe, a retired dentist; and her sisters Betty Emerson and Alice Emerson Stroude. She is the grandmother of twenty and great grandmother of nine. She was born in Portland, Oregon, to Lester Raymond Emerson and Winnie Dee Turner. They moved to Hayward, California where she graduated from High School. She graduated with a B. S. in education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and there met her husband Morgan, where he was taking pre-med courses. They were married June 6, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and left for Seattle, Washington where she taught Elementary school. After dental school at the University of Washington, they served 2 1/2 years at Hamilton Air Force Base, before moving to Santa Rosa where Morgan practiced until they retired in 2004. They were both active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many positions. Jean loved people and they loved her. She loved sewing so much that she would often teach and share her amazing talents with others. She made beautiful handcrafted Teddy Bears, quilts and other sewing projects, which acquainted her with some of her eternal friends whom she loved with all her heart to the very moment of her passing. She loved to make beautiful and delicious deserts. Jean was well known for her fabulous cinnamon rolls. She loved her family more than words can express, and was so proud of all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mother, we love you and are grateful we have you for all eternity. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5301 Badger Road, Santa Rosa, Ca. Saturday December 4, at 1:00 p.m. Friends may visit with her Friday evening December 3rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa, CA. She will finally rest in the Bennett Valley Cemetery, Santa Rosa, California. DANIELS CHAPEL OF THE ROSES FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 525-3730

I couldn't have had a more wonderful mother. Mom was everything to me. She was my mentor, my friend, and the most amazing mother a daughter could have. Thank you Mom for being my constant example. Oh how I miss you! I know that you are happy. I know that you want me to be happy. That is what sustains me, and helps me get through the day. I love you more than words can say. I have picked up the phone so many times to try to call you. Thank you for all of the special memories. Until we meet again, your loving daughter, Carolyn~

When Carolyn spoke at her funeral the comment she made about Jean saying have the table set and the family will think dinner is on its way, or put an onion in the oven. These comments are priceless. I greatly admired Jean and will always remember the kindness and love she showed me. I always felt like family in her home. Cory Shumway

Jean was such a warm, caring person. Whenever I saw her she had a way of making me feel so loved and I always knew of her concern for my well being. Jean was a member of the 40+ year sewing club of which my mother is also a member, and I felt a particular closeness to Jean because she was one of my mom's close friends who watched me grow up, came to my bridal shower, and made my son a baby gift ("Ne Ne pillow" and "Bia" blanket) that 4 years later he still cherishes to this day. I know that her spirit lives on and that she is probably taking the opportunity to share her love with those who have passed on including my younger brother who also left this life well before his time earlier this year. Jean, you will be missed until we all meet again.

Jean was one of the most wonderful, thoughful, and kind persons that I have ever been fortunate enough to have shared a little of this life with. I love her, I know that she loves me. That was one of her many gifts; she made everyone she met feel loved; and worthy of that love.
She was patient and hard working, always striving to exceed all expectations that others might place on her with quiet grace and wisdom. She bore many trials and her life has been a shining example of Christ-like love...unconditional, longsuffering, jofully complete.
To all of her family, my deepest sympathy for you. Jean leaves a void in this life that can only be filled in the next, when she greets you and all of the many others that she has loved so well, with open arms, her welcoming smile, and loving heart on the other side of the veil.

My days at the dental office were such a pleasure because of the warmth and caring of your family. Rodney--I loved the way you spoke and honored your mother at her service. You were 17 when I started working at the office--you look wonderful--it was a pleasure to see everyone all grown up.
