John M. "Jack" Murphey

Born August 11, 1928, passed away December 24, 2010. Beloved husband of Violet Murphey, Rohnert Park; father of Chris (Sue) Murphey, Hopland, Colin (Jill) Murphey, Redwood Valley, Claire Hardeman, Citrus Heights, Carole (Dan) Murphey, Asheville, NC, and step-daughters Marcia Threthic, San Rafael and Linda Maynard, Truckee. He is also survived by his sister Doreen Murphy, Geyserville and her family. He leaves grandchildren, Stephanie (Max), Kevin, James (Lindsay), Jeff, Amber, Bryce, Billy, Ryan, Kelsey, Tyler; and great granddaughter Sarah. Jack was a career fireman for the City of El Cerrito for 24 years. He also was a veteran of the Armed Services, discharged from the Army in 1956. A graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, he attained a degree in Soil Science. He was very proud of his family heritage. His grandfather was the first judge of the eastern Sierra territory in Bridgeport, CA. He coached youth baseball in Rohnert Park for many years. He enjoyed jogging, working out at the health club, traveling and spending holidays with his family. Memorial Services will be held on Monday January 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa, CA.
