Philip Zepp Obituary

Born July 30, 1941, in Alma, WI, Phil Zepp passed away in his sleep in the early hours of July 15, 2010 at his home in Guerneville, CA, after a courageous fight against cancer. An Eagle Boy Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow, he was President of his senior class at St. Felix High School in Wabasha, MN, and attended Georgetown U. in Washington DC for one year before joining the Society of Jesus as a Jesuit Brother. As a Jesuit, he graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Mary's University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and went on to pursue a career in nursing before retiring from the Sonoma Country Psychiatric Hospital in Santa Rosa. He had left the Jesuits in 1967 and lived in Phoenix for years before moving to California. He is survived by an adopted son, Martin; his brother Alan of Sacramento; and a nephew, Miguel Salcido and family of Oceanside. Phil was a volunteer for the Sonoma County AIDS Food Bank and an active member of the Russian River Rotary Club in Guerneville, where he served as President (1997-98) and was named a Paul Harris Fellow. He enjoyed monthly meetings of his book club as well as working out and lunching with the YMCA gang. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, at St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church, 14095 Woodland Dr. in Guerneville, followed by a luncheon hosted by the Rotary at St. Hubert's Hall next to the church. I really enjoyed Phils' visit here in MN.He had a way to tell a story, and a smile. Alan, I wish it was possible to see and give you a hug. There is a hole in my life with the passing of Jim(Palus) in Dec. Take care, Love, Sue

I will miss Phil and all our conversations and I will really miss seeing him when he came back to Minnesota. A really good person with a joke to tell.
