Richard Goff Obituary

Sunrise 1949 - Sunset 2011 January 5, 2011 marks the day that a lifelong resident of Sonoma County was taken suddenly from this earth and delivered to the outstretched arms of our father in heaven. He leaves behind his beloved wife Margie of forty-plus years; and his two loving sons, Jason and Chad. His daughter-in-law, Brooke; and two grandchildren, Payton and Tabitha, also mourn in the loss of an amazing father and grandfather (a.k.a. Boppa). Rick spent his early years growing up in Healdsburg, CA with his mother Alyce, sister Jackie, and late father Jack. After the early death of his father, Alyce was remarried to Les Rush, who was an inspirational figure in shaping the man Rick became, and was a wonderful father to Rick. With that marriage, Rick inherited a new brother and sister, Eugene and Lorena, who like his sister Jackie, were very dear to him. Rick spent his career in construction, laying pipeline throughout Sonoma County and the surrounding five counties. He was a member of the Laborers Union, Local #139. His career took him from Piombo Construction, to Don Dowd Co., and to what would become his home and family, North Bay Construction in Petaluma. Rick was a remarkable man. With his boundless energy, he enjoyed being an outdoorsman, particularly hunting with his best friend and cousin, Carl Goff. But his enthusiasm for the great outdoors paled in comparison to his sacrificial love for his family and his unparalled devotion to each and every member. He treasured his family, his dog Hunter, and time spent with his Uncle Frenchy. He especially took great joy and pride in mentoring his sons and grandson. Words cannot express the depth of his devotion and love as a husband, or how giving, amazing, and kind he was, as a father and grandfather, a dearest son, an adored nephew, and a beloved brother. He leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship. He will be sorely missed by so many people, because he spent his life loving and serving so many. The love and friendship he provided to all will never be forgotten. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave, Santa Rosa, burial to follow at Santa Rosa Memorial Park, Shiloh Addition. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at funeral home. If desired donations in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice. My Brother,
I had no time to prepare for this tragic lose of you.My heart is broken. You were more than a brother to me...you were my inspiration,my motivation,my best friend...you were my constant in my life.A happy family one day...the next moment,my world was shattered. My faith in God was questioned and my anger so intense I thought I would explode.I miss you so much and always will...but know this Rick...My memories of you that I carry in my heart will get me through each new day.I know one day I will see you again and we will celebrate in a joyous reunion.I will look once more into your eyes and know we never really parted. But for now, know that you are always in my heart and you will never be forgotten...Never
Love,your sister Goofer

Dear Margie

I was saddened to see the passing of Rick and know how tragic this has been for you and the entire family. I have such wonderful memories of the gatherings at my fathers vacation property in Pt. Arena. Jason and Chad were just little boys at the time and were a joy to be around. Rick was an incredibly nice guy of whom my father thought highly of. May you take comfort in knowing that Rick was so very blessed to have had such a wonderful family and loving wife by his side.

Rick's Family,
I had the pleasure of working with Rick when we were bridge workers for the county and then when we both went to Piombo. He was indeed a fine person and my memories of him leave me with a smile. We used to play this hand held football game I had when we worked at the county and when Rick would score a touchdown he did a dance that would rival any in the NFL today. May you find peace knowing that Rick crossed the final goal line and is waiting for you to share the dance. I will miss him. Bobby Roberts

Dear Margie

It was with heartfelt sadness that I learned of Ricks passing. Wonderful memories came to mind when thinking about the Goff family such as the numerous gatherings at my fathers vacation property in Pt. Arena. Jason and Chad were just little boys and were cute as could be. I remember having so much fun with your family. Rick was an incredibly kind man of whom my father thought highly of. What an incredible loss you have suffered and I know there is nothing I could say or do to ease your pain. I hope knowing that so many old friends have you in their hearts today will give you strength. May the wonderful memories of your life together will uplift you when you are feeling down.
