Thomas Bethurum Obituary

Tom passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2011 at the age of 47 of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was a resident of Santa Rosa for the past 28 years where he worked as a precision machinist throughout Sonoma County. At the time of his death he worked for IDEX Health & Science LLC as a Senior Machinist for the past 9 years. Tom was born in Anaheim, CA on February 5, 1964 and was raised in Eureka, CA. He attended Cutten Elementary, Winship Junior High and graduated Eureka Senior High class of 1982. He continued his education at College of the Redwoods attaining his skill as a precision machinist. Tom grew up on Walnut Drive in Cutten. In his youth, Tom was a member of the BSA pack 28, played baseball on the Cutten/Ridgewood Baseball League, belonged to the Junior Bowling League, and was a Junior Cadet of the Civil Air Patrol. When in Junior High he was Team Manger of the Basketball and Track teams. During his High School Years, Tom had many interest. One was taking his ATV out to the beach and letting it go. As an adult living in Santa Rosa, Tom would always find something new of interest. A couple of things that would surprise many; like taking cooking classes and Salsa Dancing lessons. Tom loved going to the City (SF) on the weekends to have fun; dancing, baseball games, museums, and more. Tom was preceded in death by his father Jack Bethurum and his oldest brother Steven Bethurum. He survived by his mother Carol Bethurum, brother Timothy (Becky), sister Julie Vaughan of Eureka, CA, niece Jennifer Bethurum, nephew Ethan Vaughan , niece Rachel Bethurum, along with many relatives in the Eureka and Sacramento, CA area. Tom also leaves behind extended family and special friends in the Santa Rosa Area; Dean Olsen, Matt Zukowski, Courtney Neeson, Bill Sweatt, Jim Bell, Rosio, the IDEX crew and the many friends he had met while living and working in Santa Rosa. Tom is loved by so many and will be extremely missed by all of us. He was a special son, a hero to his brother and sister, an awesome uncle and a best friend. There will be a visitation held at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave, Santa Rosa, CA on Saturday June 18 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. There will also be a celebration of Tom's life for family and friends. Please join us for this gathering after the visitation at the home of Dean Olson, 8144 Grape Ave., Forestville, CA from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.. Oh Tom my friend you will be missed dearly. Meeting you at Idex almost 7 years ago and you were fun to talk to and when I needed an answer for something you were there. Thanks for all your help with getting my tools unlocked from parts :). You were too young to have gone, but God needed you more. Rest in peace my friend.
