Marilou Ranch Globus

Marilou Ranch Globus died peacefully Monday evening, October 25, 2010 surrounded by family, in the home of her eldest daughter, Carolynn Ranch, and son-in-law, Vic Jenkins. Marilou was born and raised in Seattle. She attended the University of Washington, where she was swept off her feet by returning G.I. Robert "Bob" Ranch. They married in 1948, and had the first of six children in 1949. The family moved to California as Bob began his teaching career, eventually settling in Sonoma County. Through the 1970's, the couple were the proprietors of Fiori's Restaurant in Occidental, where Marilou followed her maternal urge to embrace a large group of young Bohemians who would become lifelong friends. After Bob's death in 1989, Marilou began to indulge her passion to travel. She met Dr. Alfred Globus on a fateful Alaskan cruise. They married, delighting in one another's company, and travelled the world together until Alfred's death in 2008. Mom made the world a better place with her graceful embrace of each new decade, her bright humor, and her deviled eggs. She leaves behind an extraordinarily grateful family, including children, Carolynn Ranch, Cheryl Sikich, Barbara Heffel, Diana Ranch, Joel Ranch and David Ranch; sons-in-law, Vic Jenkins, Jack Sikich and John Heffel; grandchildren, Jesse Heffel, Jared and Rachel Puthuff, Leia Heffel, Lisa Goldberg and Ilana Brongiel; great grandchildren, Colton Heffel, Lilly Bertlin and Hannah Brongiel. She is predeceased by grandson Sam Heffel. The family is respecting Marilou's wish that a funeral service not be held and asks that any remembrances be sent in her name to Yolo Hospice, Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617.
