Arthur White Obituary

Loved father, brother and son, Art passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in San Francisco from complications due to heart disease. Sons Christopher and Jordan, daughters Karen and Amy and sister Lanita surrounded him. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Kathy, son-in-law William, father and step-mother Melvin and Audrey, brothers Paul and Jim, grandchildren Adam, Katherine and Kayla and several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth. A native of New England, he moved to Northern CA in 1969. An avid photographer, he owned a camera shop in Oroville. He also worked for Peterson Tractor Company in San Leandro and was on staff at Evangelical Free Church of Oroville. He loved trains, the music of Johnny Cash, boating on the lake with friends, marathon Christmas celebrations and working on his big projects outdoors. A current member of Spring Hills Community Church, he was known for his daily neighborhood outings and always had a friendly smile or quick joke. Most of all, he loved his kids and showed it by spending time with them as much as possible and doing his very best to provide for them. There will be a private family service to celebrate his life here and the hope that is now his reality. Thoughts and condolences may be mailed to: Amy White, P.O. Box 545, Santa Rosa, Ca 95402.

To the White family,

My prayers are with you especially at this time. I can't remember the first time I met Art, but I do remember the love, care, concern he had for all of his kids, and the grandkids.

I remember that he liked to cook. We had french toast and he put peanut butter on it. Now, I'm a peanut butter fanatic too, but on french toast? Well, of course I tried it. Delicious and "healthy".

I also remember how he loved pizza.

I was there a time before Easter. He filled umpty-ump number of plastic Easter eggs with chocolates for the egg hunt at church. Imagine a big man, with big hands--opening those Easter eggs. It was a wonder he didn't get frustrated and just ate the chocolates!

Faith heals. And in this time of Advent hope, let us cling to our God waiting for our turn to meet Art, Debbie, and your Grammie Ruth again.

Dad, I hope we did you proud today. We wanted to honor you as much as you showed love to us, but I am afraid we could never come close. I know you would have been so happy seeing us laugh and tell stories, seeing the boys all dressed up and just spending time outside. I know you are more happy now than we could ever imagine. I miss you every day and feel like you will just come walking around the corner any minute now. I can't wait to see you again and look forward to when we will have eternity to get to know each other without all the pain and suffering in the way. You'll have to show me the ropes when it's time for us to be together again. I can't wait to stand in the crowd with you and worship our God together. I will do my best while I am still on this big ball of dirt to keep honoring you by emulating all the good qualities that you shared with me and making sure people in my life can see them too. Thank you for sharing your big life with me. I love you.

Thanks, Dad...
