Charles Kenneth "Jack" Jackson

"Jack" Jackson passed away July 29, 2010 from Parkinsons. Born January 19, 1923, in Oakland and graduating from Turlock High School in 1941. He worked in the Richmond Shipyards and as a Merchant Marine from 1943 to 1946. A UC Berkeley Graduate, Go Bears. Married for 51 years to Margaret Helen Claar ("Peggy") until her death in 2002. An Amateur Radio operator, call sign W6KNO. Member of ARRL, MARC, EBARC, SCRA and Cal Fire's VIP Program. Founder of the Red Oak Victory Amateur Radio Club. A member of Delta Phi Epsilon, the Professional Foreign Service Fraternity (Epsilon Chapter, 1947). A volunteer at KPFA radio, also an early board member of the Berkeley Co-op. He worked for Stauffer Chemical Co. in the 1950's, and later became a Real Property appraiser with the Assessor's Office County of Sonoma. A Kensington resident for 50 years, he was a strong supporter and occasional board member of PFLAG. A volunteer for the SS Red Oak Victory. He is mourned by his family: daughter, Martha, of Richmond; son, David, wife Becky, of Santa Rosa, their sons, Daniel and Brian; son, Peter, his partner Eric Raptosh, of Venice Beach; son, Michael, wife Monique Lanoix, of Montreal; and many cousins, friends, and shipmates. A celebration of his life will be held on board the Red Oak Victory, 1337 Canal Blvd., Berth 6A, Richmond, CA, on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. No flowers please.
