Clara Watkins Obituary

Resident of Rohnert Park, CA. Our Beloved "Grama Sunshine's" soul rose with the sun on the morning of Oct. 27, 2010 in Santa Rosa. Born Clementina, to Vincenza and Olinda DiFulvio, in Tonawanda, New York, on March 18, 1928. She was preceded in heaven by her parents, and her husbands, Ciro "Jerry" Fasso and William "Bill" Watkins. After marrying Jerry in Buffalo, NY in 1948, the couple settled in Cheektowaga, NY, and started their family. In September 1965, Clara and Jerry loaded the kids into their new, blue 1965 Ford Custom Sedan. Towing a trailer with their belongings, they left Cheektowaga, driving through rain, sleet and snow, heading for the California dream. They found it when they arrived in the Bay Area. They settled in Alameda where they raised their family of four. Clara later married a second time to Bill Watkins. After retirement she and Bill moved to South Lake Tahoe where they both enjoyed playing the slots. She was the treasurer and an active member of the South Lake Tahoe Cancer League. Now widowed, in 2005 she moved to Rohnert Park to be closer to her family. Thanksgiving dinner will never be the same without her prayers and her toasts to her "Wonderful Family". Chin Chin! Clara was a free spirit and a woman of many mysteries. She had the ability to make friends anywhere she went. She had fun playing card games and loved crafting her very detailed and treasured hand-made bead work. She always kept her Angels close by and now she has met them face to face, and has received her own wings. Blessed be God. She is survived by her children Janet (Joe) Castro, Michele (Dave) Thompson, James (Julie) Fasso, and Renee (Duane) Stockton. Also by her grandchildren, Zachary (Cassandra), Joshua (Jennifer), Jeremy, Alexander (Rachel), Jay, Nicholas, Kaitlin and Lauren; along with her great granddaughter Clementine, named after Grama Sunshine. She is deeply loved and will be missed by all. A celebration of her wonderfully colorful life will be held at a later date.

Mom, I think about you often. You always had a way of making any day, better.. the love you gave me helped me through tough times, even after you were gone. Julie and me and the kids loved you so.. You smiled up there I'm sure, knowing Julie was talking about you right up to her last hours here on Earth...
Miss you...

Mom you were the best. I could never figure out why there is so much negative talk about Mothers In Law; you were always there for the kids, Sheli and me. I love you.
