Eva Gray Obituary

Eva Bruun Gray passed away peacefully on October 27th, 2010 on her 91st birthday. She was born in Skien, Norway where she attended private schools and learned several languages. Her nursing studies were done in Oslo, and she later served in the Norwegian army in the Korean War where she attained the rank of captain. She came to America in 1952, and worked in hospitals in New Jersey, Seattle, San Francisco and Santa Rosa. She met and married her husband, Larry Gray in San Francisco. They moved to Petaluma in 1978 and bought a home where they enjoyed gardening, bicycling and a lot of traveling. Eva loved cats and fed all the birds in the yard. Larry predeceased her in 1995 after 35 years of marriage. She later became an active member in the Lutheran church with bible study, crafts and the friendship circle. She is survived by two nephews, Christian Selmer, Ivar Bruun; and great nieces and nephews in Norway as well as a cousin Wencke Braathen from Illinois who was out to visit Eva in July. A Memorial Celebration of Eva's life will be held Saturday November 6th at 1:00 p.m. at Elim Lutheran Church, 504 Baker St., Petaluma, CA 94952. Refreshments to follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Elim Lutheran Church.
