Fernando MIÑÓN Obituary

MINON, Fernando R. April 17, 1982 - November 6th, 2017 Fernando went missing on February 9, 2017. His remains were found on November 6, 2017. Fernando was born in Mexico on April 17, 1982 and adopted in 1984 by Diane Gamber-Miñón of Rohnert Park, and Hector R Miñón Jr. of Desert Hot Springs, CA. Fernando became of citizen of U.S.A. on March 13, 1992 in the District Court of Los Angeles, that was a very proud day for him. From a very early age, Fernando loved sports, He excelled in soccer, archery, bowling, basketball, wrestling, football and baseball. Baseball was his passion. For 15 years he umpired for various leagues. He graduated from Jim Evans Academy of Professional Umpiring in Kissimmee, Florida in 2008. He refereed basketball in the off season and worked in retail clerk positions. He attended St. Rose Elementary School, active in St. Rose Catholic Church serving as an altar boy and later an Usher. Oakridge Private School Santa Ana, CA where he was very active in plays and school events. He played the part of George Washington and of course the center of attention. He attended San Miguel School and continued to keep in touch with some of the teachers and staff throughout his adult life. He went on to Rincon Valley and Cardinal Newman High School. He attended DeVry University at Fremont studying Computer Information Systems. Attended S.R.J.C. studying Business Administration and was V.P. Finance and advisor of the Associated Students. He attended the College of Marin studying Political Science and board member for various committees. In his youth, he traveled to Sacramento and Washington, DC with the American Student Travel Program. He was always involved in politics helping with various elections and served as Precinct Inspector for the Sonoma County Clerk Recorder Assessor for several years. He loved the S.F Giants and went to many games hanging with his buddies. He loved to hike, especially with the North Bay Hikers, going to Barns and Noble and the library reading books endlessly. He loved to hang out at Starbucks, with his dog Sadie, playing chess and talking to people. He had an ear for music. He loved to volunteer his time to various organizations such as the St. Rose Parish Festivals, C.Y.O., C.N.H.S. Big Events, C.N.H.S. Field Maintenance, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Festival, PACE BALL associated with S.R. Memorial Hospital. He volunteered at the homeless shelter. He was constantly giving of his time. He would help anyone in need which was in the case of him going missing. He texted his mother that he was helping a friend whose mother died and would be home soon. He was never seen again. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his Uncles: Tino Gamber (Kathy) of Lakeport, Tom Gamber (Lori) of Santa Rosa ,Tim Gamber of South Lake Tahoe, Aunts: Kathy Gamber-Hall (Mel) of Santa Rosa ,Sue Miñón O'Keefe (Bill) of San Clemente, CA, Maria Miñón MD of Villa Park, CA. Numerous cousins. A Mass will be celebrated Saturday January 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rose Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, Fernando would have requested donations made to: Disabled American Veterans of Santa Rosa, The Redwood Gospel Mission 101 6th St. Santa Rosa, the Aspergers Syndrome Program thru the Sonoma County Office of Education and the St. Joseph Health Care for Diabetes in Santa Rosa.
