Harold Lowers Obituary

Harold Lowers went to be with Jesus on November 8, 2010 at the age of 82. He is survived by Margaret, his wife of 53 years; his five children: Vivian (Jason) Hughes, Jim Lowers (Cathy Rounds), Janice (Jim) Bald, Bill Lowers, and Marleen (Paul) Kimple; as well as 11 grandchildren: Carolyn, Shasta, Shannon, Lacey, Susan, Weston, Jim, Nikki, Angela, Jackie, and Amber. Also by his sisters, Virginia (Joe) Harter and Mildred Compton, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was born in 1928 in Wishek, ND and grew up in Wiggins, CO. He had many occupations throughout his life, farmer, millworker, logger, and finally top notch heavy equipment mechanic. He worked as a mechanic and service manager for Case Equipment. In 1957 he married his sweetheart, much to the delight of their friends and family. He adopted her two children and together they had three more. He was an active part of the community, attending St. John's Church in Healdsburg for more than 50 years, and for the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department, he both helped build the original building and served as director. Harold was faithful in all he did, from family to church to his two favorite hobbies, golf and gardening. Every year his yard was brimming with vegetables and gorgeous flowers, and he frequented Tayman's Golf Course for a number of years. Dancing was an iconic part of his life. In his youth, he was in a clog dance troupe, he met Margaret by taking her for a whirl at a barnyard dance, and up until the end of his life, could be seen hitting the floor any time Johnny Cash was playing. Harold was a vital part of his community and will be dearly missed by all. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at a Rosary at 9:45 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 10.00 a.m. respectively, in St. Johns Church in Healdsburg on Friday, November 12th, 2010. There will be a viewing Thursday, November 11th at Romano's Mortuary in Windsor from 4.00 p.m. - 8.00 p.m.

Grandpa Lowers was a very kind man. He was always very sweet with my kids and with his own. Always opened his home to a house full. Take care of yourselves during this time. Just think, he's tending a beautiful garden in heaven now!
