Jim Cameron, beloved family patriarch, passed away surrounded by family Friday, September 3rd in Healdsburg, California at age 85. Universally respected for his keen mind, honesty and quick wit, he was a mentor to many. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family, both here and abroad. He was born Christmas Eve 1924 to the late Florence Eggleston Cameron and John A. Cameron in Palo Alto, California. After graduating from Sequoia Union High School, Jim entered the Navy at age 17 to serve in the Pacific during World War II. He attended UC Berkeley with V12 and graduated from San Jose State with a Bachelors Degree in 1947. Completing his post- graduate work at Santa Clara University, he subsequently passed and was awarded his CPA certificate in 1952. He met his loving wife of 61 years, Gloria Lewis, in Gilroy, California. With her support, Jim had a successful career in the U.S. steel and international defense industries. He held Top Secret security clearance and managed projects around the world in many countries including Turkey, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, S. Korea, Luxembourg and Germany. He lived abroad in Switzerland and traveled extensively throughout his career. He was the CFO and on the board of directors of Pinole Point Steel, Marwais Steel of Larkspur and Marwais International headquartered in Luxembourg. In 1989 Jim and Gloria retired to Healdsburg, California where he enjoyed caring for their property and continued to travel the world. Particularly fond of cruising, Jim enjoyed planning and going on cruises throughout his battle with prostate cancer. He was an avid supporter of the Healdsburg Museum and Historical Society. Preceded in death by his brother John A. Cameron and sister Janet Gelatt. He is survived by his loving wife Gloria, three daughters, six grandsons and one granddaughter. They are: Daughter Cristi and husband Tim Mann, their three sons Erin Timothy Cameron Mann, Brett James Cameron Mann, all of Tracy and Scott Michael Cameron Mann of Healdsburg; Daughter Joy and husband Patrick McGannon, her sons John Cameron Lago and Jason Cameron Lago, of Santa Rosa; Daughter Kimberly, her son Cameron and daughter Mackenzie, of Newport Beach, California.
