Jessica peacefully took her last breath on earth and her first in heaven after a short illness. at Creekside Convalescent Hospital is Santa Rosa, in the early morning hours of October 26th with her loving son at her side as she stepped into eternity. Our mother, our friend, was independent, funny, opinionated, loving and very giving. Jessica was born to William and Margaret Fleming Heilig in Rome, NY. She attended Rome schools. She was a fashion model in New York and a dancer when she got engaged and married Maj. Harold L. Thayer of Perry, NY. After being stationed in Europe for seven years, they returned to the US in 1967 where Harold was stationed at Hamilton A.F.B. in Novato, CA. After moving to Petaluma in 1980, "Skip" began delivering newspapers for The Argus Courier and Press Democrat where her happy and loyal customers never went without their paper. She did this for many years. In 2003 she moved to Santa Rosa. She enjoyed her antiques and was always fixing and working with her wonderful clock collection. She loved her 1967 Camaro RS which is still in the family. Jessica was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers and Harold Thayer Sr. She is survived by her son Harold (Hal) Thayer Jr., daughter Margaret "Marnie" (Danny) Sizemore of Grassy Creek, NC. She also leaves behind her loving granddaughters: Yvonne Woosley of Roseville, CA., Tamara Berrios of Riverside, CA., and Haley Moss-Thayer of Santa Rosa; six great grandsons and daughters; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Her Life will be held on December 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 2930 Bennett Valley Rd., Santa Rosa for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, 2455 Bennett Valley Rd., Santa Rosa, CA 95404. Music, when soft voices die, vibrates in the memory...the song has ended, but the melody lingers on. Natures loving proxy, the watchful mother.

Hal, such a nice tribute to a beautiful person. I have so many great memories of her. I think of her often, and now I hope it comforts you a little to know she is reunited with Brad and Barb. I will always cherish the stories she told me about our Grandmother who I knew so little about, and the wonderful tales of my Dad and of Rome. Thinking of you during this difficult time. Love to you and Marnie. Bob Heilig
