Laverne June Pozzi

Passed away at age 92 on March 1, 2011 in Los Gatos, CA, following a surgical procedure. Laverne was born on June 27, 1918 in Livingston, CA. She was the daughter of the late Robert 'Frank' Winsby Sr. and Sadie Roberts Winsby. She was a longtime resident of Sebastopol, arriving here in 1919, and graduating from Analy High School in 1937. She was married to the late Joseph E. Pozzi for 47 years. She partnered with her husband and her brother Robert to open Pozzi & Winsby Jewelers, a Sebastopol business for 38 years. After the death of her husband in 1987, she moved to San Jose, CA to be near her son, Darrell Pozzi. She loved to travel with her family and to attend parties and other social events. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor. She is survived by her brother, Robert F. Winsby Jr. Predeceased by her brother, William E. Winsby, in 1965. She leaves behind her son, Darrell Pozzi, and his wife Janet Pozzi, her three grandsons, Dennis, Darren, and Jason Pozzi, and her three great grandchildren, Jenny, Claire, and Matthew Pozzi. She also leaves behind her nephew and four nieces: Walter Winsby of Windsor, Jewell Locken of Tehachapi, Greta Witt of Forestville, Erika Smith of Sebastopol, Linda Malloy of Shingle Springs, and Sylvia Winsby of Capitola. A Graveside service will be held at Sebastopol Memorial Lawn on Saturday, March 5 at 1:00 p.m. followed at 3:00 p.m. by a Life Celebration at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 460 Murphy Avenue in Sebastopol.
