Margaret Clary Obituary

Passed away following a long illness on September 28, 2010 at her home in Santa Rosa, California at the age of 62. Maggie was born in San Francisco and graduated from Lincoln High School. Maggie is survived by her husband Raimond F. Clary, Jr., son Shawn T. Parker of Santa Rosa, daughter Maureen Coveney and son-in-law Sean Coveney of Encinitas, CA.; brothers William O'Keefe of Santa Rosa, Michael O'Keefe of Sacramento, sisters Teresa McElhaney of Windsor and Patti O'Keefe of Guerneville. Maggie is also survived by granddaughters Shawndra Parker of Santa Rosa, Colleen Coveney of Encinitas, and grandson Brian Coveney of Encinitas in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Maggie retired from the Santa Rosa School District after more than 20 years of service. She enjoyed reading immensely as well as getting her hands dirty in the garden. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid 49er and Cal Berkeley football fan. She was dedicated to her family. Maggie never had an unkind word for anyone and she often felt uneasy in the presence of those who did. Maggie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made to either Heartland Hospice or the Social Advocates for Youth. A service for friends and family of Maggie may be held at a later date and notification will be announced.

Our deepest condolences to the O’Keefe Family,

As you know, Maggie was my childhood best friend. We had great times when living on Palisades Drive. Maggie and I enjoyed Flieshhacker pool, the zoo, and going to the Sierra movie theater. We saw “Some Like It Hot,” and sat in the loge seats at age 11. Not to mention adventures down the cliff behind our backyards; always forbidden but enticing.

Maggie included me in the O’Keefe family trips such as Russian River, Clear Lake, and swimming at Aunt Sue and Uncle Jack’s in San Mateo. Great adventures!

After I moved with my family to Hawaii in August 1960, Maggie and Patti came to visit. They traveled 2400 miles in a propeller plane. That was not an easy trip in those days. Once again, we had a great time and caused lots of gray hair for my parents.

Coming back from Hawaii in 1968, Maggie and I continued our friendship. Maggie was then living at the Forrest Hills house – wow! We had more good times at Maggie’s wedding events and gatherings on Friday nights, trying to solve the world’s problems; great fun!

Maggie will have a special place in my heart forever. Love to all of you.
