Michael Moore Obituary

December 27, 1949 - April 8, 2010. Michael Moore of Santa Rosa passed away in Petaluma after a difficult year with cancer and a blood disorder which he bore with remarkable serenity; a man at peace with himself. He was born in Santa Monica, CA, the third child of Russell Clark Moore and Dorothy Stewart Moore. He lived much of his life in the Sierras, close to the ski slopes he loved before moving to Santa Rosa about 10 years ago. He was an athlete; a cyclist and gym rat, but most of all he was a skilled downhill skier and lover of the world's challenging runs. He volunteered his time and skill at Sugar Bowl working with kids and disabled others learning to ski. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1996 with a BA degree in Political Science. He was conscientious and capable throughout his life. Michael was in recovery and had attained 23 years of high quality sobriety. His wry wit could match the best of them. He is survived by his sisters Patricia Peters and Margaret Moore; as well as nieces, nephews and his many friends who were more than faithful to the very end. We thank the hospitals' ICU nurses for their kind and competent care. A memorial service for Michael will be offered Saturday May 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at 740 No. Main St., Sebastopol, CA. Please send any donations to the Sugar Bowl Ski Team Foundation, Norden, CA. For more information call 707-829-1572 or 510-526-0922
