Norman Fox Obituary

71, died in Portland, Oregon on Friday September 10th, 2010. Norman was born September 24, 1938, in Lindsay, CA. to Alvin and Clennie Fox. He was a master craftsman for over fifty years in the commercial and homebuilding industries and owned cabinet making businesses in Petaluma, California where he raised his two children before returning to Porterville in 1992. Norman is survived by his wife, Claudia D. Fox; and their two children, Tracy Fox-Pfiffner and Garrett Fox; and son-in-law, Tim Pfiffner; two children Deborah and Derek Fox; siblings Wayne Fox, Al Fox, Bill Fox and Loretta Rollins; ten grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. A little girl who is now a women will always remember Norman for the kind man he was. He went out one night close to christmas even though at the time he did not believe in celebrating such holidays and bought a CHER doll for a little girl who was going to miss out on a holiday that was dear to her heart. Her mom was in the hospital in a city far from home and would continue to battle her fight with cancer that she would eventual loose. I will cherish my memories of Norman, as I am sure will his family!

I thank Norman for all he taught me in cabinets and life. He always treated me as family. I remember his calm demeanor even as I struggled to get Garrett and Myself in to the shop late as we usually were. A great craftsmen and friend. You will be missed but not forgotten.

I will always cherish the memories I have of weekends in Petaluma with Uncle Norman, and working installing cabinets during Christmas vacation and summer. The spiritual conversations were fun and educational. I know that his mother was very proud of him, not just for his accomplishments in life, but for the person he was. He truly did try to see the best in everyone.

I was nanny for his daughter Tracy's children,Lauren and Alex. This was how I first met Norman. We loved Tracy but sometimes I could not make out here handwriting,I asked Norman if he could, because he must have had to read it her whole life,he just laughed and said, are you kidding I have tried and I still can't, why don't we just guess and hope we're right. He loved her so very much and I guess he didn't want her to know he was never able to fully read what she wrote. That in my book made him a great man and a wonderful Father. Grace Bommarito
