Robert Nygard Obituary

Bob passed away November 18, 2010 in Santa Rosa surrounded by his loved ones. Bob was born in Lincoln, Nebraska February 23, 1933. It was there he met and married his high school sweetheart and life partner of 58 years, Ruth Grothaus. From Nebraska to Germany, with a stint in the Air Force, Bob and family arrived in Santa Rosa in 1966. He worked as a salesman for Revlon Cosmetics for several years until he took his knack for hard work to real estate. With his business of Allied Realty and then later as a landlord he and Ruth helped many people in Sonoma County with their housing needs. Bob was a husband to Ruth, father to Lynda Nygard, Nancy Nygard Reed and Douglas Nygard who died earlier this year. He was grandpa to Scott Bell, Christina Bell-Gilmore, Lucas and Evan Reed and Karlye Dunn. He was a brother, great grandpa, animal lover, athlete and friend. Bob will be remembered for his sense of humor, hard working helpful manner and love of family and animals. Memorial Service will be on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Rosa Memorial Park Chapel, 1900 Franklin Ave., Santa Rosa. Friends are invited to gather at the Odd Fellows Hall, 545 Pacific Ave., Santa Rosa after the service. If desired donations in Bob's memory may be made to Sonoma County Animal Shelter, 1247 Century Ct. Santa Rosa 95403, Drug Abuse Alternative Center, 2403 Professional Dr. Santa Rosa, 95403 or a charity of your choice. Family assisted by: SANTA ROSA MORTUARY EGGEN & LANCE CHAPEL, 707-545-3747

I am sure going to miss your sense of humor and all the "kidding" with me and will miss those funny birthday cards you always sent me about being so old. I have so many wonderful memories of our times together here in Denver and also out in California with Ruthie and your kids. In loving memory of a wonderful Brother-in-Law. I will love you and miss you always. Sister-in-Law Darlene

Love lives on in the memories of the heart. May you find peace on the other side of sorrow. May you find comfort on the other side of loss. And most of all, may you find in this sad farewell, that love lives on in the memories of the heart. The memory of Uncle Bob lives on in the hearts of all of us. With deepest sympathy,
Carolyn Versaw and Joshua
