I just happened to be dog-sitting for some friends and noticed Terry's picture on a table. I didn't even know they knew Terryanne...then I saw the obituary, and I can't begin to tell you how sad I am that we had not kept in touch over the years. Terry I knew as a child and a very wonderful teacher. I have so many memories. I pray for John and Vivian and wish them much peace, love, support in their lives. Please don't hesitate to call on me for anything. God bless you. Rest in peace, sweet Terry.

It was with enormous sadness learning of Terry's passing. She lived life to its fullness in everything she did. I had the good fortune to visit her classrooms and see her dedication as well as her belief in each child's uniqueness and potential. She would email me every once in awhile to catch up, always including photos of Vivian, and I marveled at her passion for everything. My heart goes out to her family for their loss.

I am very sorry to hear of the loss of one of the greatest teachers I ever knew. I was very privelaged to have Mrs. Thane as a science teacher when I went to piner high, she taught with so much passion that it gave me passion for science. I will never forget the 'bug project' we had to do, took forever and you would never imagine how many bugs look the same but are different. After the bug project she had myself and two other girls from class help her grade the projects, it took months!! But in that time I got to know Mrs. Thane better and the more I knew, the more I loved her as a person and an educator! As a reward to us for helping her grade these projects she took us to San Francisco for the day where we rode the ferry and went shopping- I will never forget how much fun I had with her that day. My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Thane's friends and family, may she continue to shine her beautiful light on you all.

In Memoriam

I give my deepest, most heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Thane's loved ones. Mrs. Thane was my Life Sciences teacher in my sophomore year (1997-98) at Piner High School and my Environmental Science teacher in my junior year (1998-99) (plus, I loved to visit her classroom during my senior year). My memories of her are filled with energy, warmth, humor, kindess, generosity, support, and just plain fun. She even wrote a special end-of-year note for me that I have tucked inside my junior year yearbook. And I have the twin copy of a Christmas-themed photo of me, her, and four other students that she gave to me and my friend, and it has a very sweet note on the back. It's funny, because I think I gave her the twin copy of a photo I took of her at my senior prom because she wanted a picture of herself in her blue dress! As I looked through my yearbooks and photos and papers today, I found a rough draft that I wrote for an inscription in a book I gave to her. The book, which I clearly remember finding at the old Copperfield's at Coddingtown, was called "Rarest of the Rare," and I think that title applies to Mrs. Thane too. She once gave me a shirt with a butterfly (Painted Lady) on it, which I still treasure, so I am posting an image of a beautiful butterfly from my mother's garden. I'm sure it would make her smile.
Thank you, Mrs. Thane, for being such a wonderful person and teacher.
With great respect and affection,
Megan Severdia

Mr. Thane and Vivian
I will always remember when Mrs.Thane took our 8th grade summer school PE class on that crazy bike ride out Roblar Rd in 1992. And all the other classes she had subbed when I was in school. I used to run across Mrs. Thane from time to time at the 24 hour club in Cotati years ago and would talk to her she was very very happy all the time. Mrs. Thane will be greatly missed she was a great lady and a great teacher and I mourn your loss during these sad times.

Though I only knew Terry a few short months her life is indelibly imprinted on my heart. "Terry, you will be so missed. You made a lasting impression on me and my family. You made such an impression on my son who had the privilege of being in your class at Piner. Most of all though Terry you were the most amazing mom I think I have ever had the privilege of observing. Your love for sweet little Viv and the heart that you poured into her life will go on forever. You were truly amazing my friend. I will miss you more than you would ever have thought". We have indeed lost a great lady.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. May you find peace and know that you are loved by so many people. Thank you to everyone who helped Terry throughout her life. Love to all, Lynn
