Vernon Stokes Obituary

Vern left us on October 1, 2010 with his wife Pat, and daughter Kathy at his side. Vern was a kind, loving and compassionate man. He always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart. Born in San Francisco in 1920, Vern grew up, and went to school, in the City. After World War II, he graduated from USF Law School and was the Attorney for the Board of Trade. He then went into private practice and retired in 1987. Upon his retirement, Vern and Pat moved to Oakmont. Vern became a founding member on the Board of Directors of the golf club from the beginning of the RPOGC until winning the lawsuit and the formation of the Oakmont Golf Club. Vern will be greatly missed by his wife Pat, his daughter Kathy (Peter), son Michael (Jane), five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Green Acres Manor (Kenwood) and Sutter VNA Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they gave Vern for the last 17 months. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Sutter VNA Hospice. Private services will be held.
