Mary Lou Case POLSON

Mary POLSON Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 22 to Sep. 23, 2012.
90, of Geneva, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012. Mary Lou was born in Tacoma, WA, the second child of Edwin F. and Louise J. Case. The family moved to Seattle where Mary Lou spent all of her formative years. She graduated from Lincoln High and entered the University of Washington. It was there that she met her future husband, Robert E. Polson. They were married on Jan. 19, 1944. Together, they completed Bob's military obligation at the Vancouver Barracks in Vancouver, WA and had their first son, Richard. They moved back to Seattle and a second son, Glenn, soon arrived. Their third son, Don, was born when they lived in Mercer Island, WA. While Mary Lou continued to raise her family and became a real estate agent, many moves occurred; Midland, MI, Hudson OH, back to Midland, Coral Gables, FL, back to Midland and then to Walnut Creek, CA. In California, Bob and Mary Lou developed their interest in viticulture, started work on rehabilitating an old vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County, and soon a second parcel was purchased, grape vines planted, a house built, and a winery was founded: Lake Sonoma Winery. This was Mary Lou's favorite home with beautiful weather, wonderful vistas, good friends, and room to roam. Bob, May Lou, and Don ran the winery until 1995 when Bob passed away and the winery sold in 1996. Mary Lou moved into the town of Healdsburg for her retirement. In 2000, health concerns prompted her to move to Geneva, IL to be closer to her family. Her devoted family describes her as patient, humble, a good friend and mother, giving time and putting others before herself, diligent, beautiful in her youth and a saint thereafter. She was totally dedicated to her family. She was a friend to many an animal: dogs, bunnies, cardinals are a few. She will be missed by friends and family, but great memories will help us all. Everyone should be so lucky to know and love someone like her. Mary Lou is survived by her sons, Dick (Edie) Glenn (Peggy), Don; grandchildren, Amy (AJ) VanPelt, Stacey (Nate) Kilburg, Brent (Megan) Polson, Grant (Laura) Polson, and Katrina Polson; and great-grandchildren Gavin VanPelt, Ben and Anna Kilburg, and Kriztina Polson. The family requests that any donations be made to the Humane Society or to your local "no-kill" animal shelter. All services will be private. Your mom was our neighbor for a number of years on Maxwell Street. She always had a friendly smile for us. Sometimes I would try to quiet my boys down when they were making too much noise in the front yard and she was out gardening and she would tell me that they were just being boys. We were sorry when she moved out of the court but happy that she moved closer to family. She was a gracious lady and we're sorry to hear about her passing.
