Harold Bert BONNIKSON

Passed away after a short illness on January 13, 2014 with his loving wife and family members by his side. Harold was born on November 1, 1926 in Ferndale, California. He was one of four children born to Bert and Eda Bonnikson. He spent his early years working on a dairy ranch with his father and brother, then enlisted in the Navy during World War II and became a fire control specialist. After the war ended, he served as a peacekeeper in the Philippines. Harold studied at Eureka Business College where he met his future wife, Eleen. He later graduated with a teaching credential from CSU Sonoma and spent the next twenty years teaching math and science in Sonoma County. After retiring, he enjoyed spending his free time fishing and travelling. He was an immensely devoted and compassionate man who loved spending time with his family. Harold is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eleen, daughter Sue Benson (Lars) of Seaside, Oregon, daughter Sharen Moore of Santa Rosa, son Pete Bonnikson (Terri) of Danville, daughter Sandra Lewis of San Diego; grandchildren Jack Bonnikson (Leslie), Lisa Bonnikson (Paul), Alexander Lewis, and Kimberley Moore (Julian).
